On Monday, March 3, 2025, the University of Zielona Góra kicked off its exciting Orientation Week, organized by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). The event is all about helping new international students settle in, get to know the university, and feel at home in Poland.
The opening ceremony featured Vice-Rector Prof. Justyna Patalas-Maliszewska, ESN President Julia Kowalczykiewicz, and Prof. Marek Smoluk, the Representative for Internationalization. They welcomed the new students and highlighted how valuable international cooperation and cultural diversity are to the university community.
After the official part, everyone headed to the Institute of Physics, where they got to know the Institutes of Astronomy, Physics, and Mathematics. It was a great chance to learn about academic programs, research opportunities, and what everyday life at the Faculty of Science and Natural Sciences is really like.
One of the coolest moments (literally!) was the liquid nitrogen show. The spectacular freezing experiments and the surprising effects of low temperatures really wowed the crowd. The fun experiments were prepared by the talented staff of the Institute of Physics.
This semester, over 80 students from around the world are joining the faculty. You’ll find new friends from Spain, Nigeria, Turkey, Greece, and more.
And that’s not all. ESN has more in store, including workshops, city games, and trips that will help you explore the campus, get to know Zielona Góra, and make lasting connections.
If you’re a new international student, don’t miss out—jump into the activities, meet new people, and make the most of your time at UZ.
