From March 3rd to 7th, the Faculty of Science and Natural Sciences welcomed two distinguished scholars from Nasarawa State University in Keffi, Nigeria: Prof. K'tso Nghargbu and Prof. Ibrahim Umru. The visit, part of the Erasmus+ program, provided a unique opportunity for students to engage in academic and cultural exchanges, enriching their educational experience.
The guests participated in the official opening of the Orientation Week, where students had the chance to interact with international scholars and learn about global academic perspectives. Prof. Nghargbu and Prof. Umru also attended presentations and experimental demonstrations organized by the Faculty of Science and Natural Sciences, offering students insights into advanced scientific research and practices.
During their visit, the scholars met with the Vice-Rector, Prof. Justyna Patalas-Maliszewska, to discuss ongoing collaboration with Nasarawa State University in Keffi. This meeting opened new possibilities for student exchanges, joint research projects, and expanded academic opportunities.
It is worth noting that four Nigerian students are currently studying at the Faculty of Science and Natural Sciences during the summer semester. Their journey to Poland was supported by a smooth and professional process, including recruitment, preparation of travel documents, organization of the study program, and communication with the Embassy of Poland in Nigeria. The excellent cooperation was strengthened by Prof. Nghargbu’s long-standing relationship with Polish universities, as well as his effective diplomatic ties with Polish institutions.
As part of the visit, Prof. Ngharbu and Prof. Umaru delivered a series of interdisciplinary lectures titled "Radiation Physics" and "Medical Geology," which were well-attended by students and staff of the Institute of Physics. These lectures allowed students to learn about current research trends and gain valuable knowledge from international experts.
On Wednesday, students had the chance to meet the guests during the Open Days at the Faculty of Technical Sciences. Prof. Nghargbu and Prof. Umru toured the laboratories of the Institute of Environmental Engineering, providing students with opportunities to engage in discussions about environmental protection and applied natural sciences.
The visit also included cultural experiences and nature-based workshops. Students joined the guests on a trip to the UNESCO Geopark in Mużaków, organized by the Erasmus Student Network and the Welcome Center. This event combined learning with fun, offering students the chance to explore local geological heritage alongside international scholars.
The visit concluded with the Erasmus Dinner, where Erasmus+ students showcased traditional dishes from their home countries. The event fostered a friendly atmosphere, encouraging students to engage in conversations about both scientific and cultural topics, and promoting a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences.
