At the turn of February and March, two complementary, mutually reinforcing events devoted to Polish–Romanian cooperation in the fields of science, education, and academic dialogue will take place. Their interdisciplinary character stems from the programme concept developed by the project coordinators — Dr hab. Sylwia Kondej (Institute of Physics) and Dr Magda Pokrzyńska (Institute of Sociology) — which brings together perspectives from the exact and natural sciences with those of the social sciences.
One of the events will be the Polish–Romanian Science Festival, whose central highlight will be the Day of Polish–Romanian Solidarity, scheduled for 3 March. The festival will be held in Zielona Góra and Głogów, with the participation of representatives of diplomatic and academic communities from Poland and Romania.
The second event will be the Polish–Romanian school “Borderlands of Cooperation: Polish–Romanian Spring School Studying the Interference of Culture, Science, and Art”, to be held in Zielona Góra and Alba Iulia, with the participation of students from the University of Zielona Góra and the “1 December 1918” University of Alba Iulia. The school programme will include interdisciplinary workshops, lectures, laboratories, and demonstrations of a scientific and educational character.
An important element of the programme will also be a concert by music students of the University of Zielona Góra, to be held at Piekarnia Cichej Kobiety, providing an artistic complement to the scientific and educational activities carried out within the framework of the school and the festival.
Both initiatives are implemented with the key involvement of the University of Zielona Góra and form part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the University.
The events involve academic staff from the Institute of Astronomy, Institute of Physics, Institute of Music, Institute of Political Science and Public Administration, and Institute of Sociology. Students of sociology, astronomy, physics, music, and psychology actively participate in the “Borderlands of Cooperation” School; their mobilities are carried out within the framework of the PROM project. The events are organized in cooperation with academic and institutional partners from Poland and Romania.
