On Monday, March 3, 2025, the Orientation Week at the University of Zielona Góra kicked off, organized by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). The event, aimed at new international students, is designed to help them acclimate to the university and to life in Poland.
The official opening was led by Vice-Rector Prof. Justyna Patalas-Maliszewska, ESN President Julia Kowalczykiewicz, and the Representative for Internationalization, Prof. Marek Smoluk. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of international cooperation and openness to cultural diversity.
After the official part, participants moved to the Institute of Physics, where presentations of the Institutes of Astronomy, Physics, and Mathematics took place. Students had the opportunity to learn not only about the educational offerings and research opportunities but also to get acquainted with international life at the Faculty of Science and Natural Sciences.
One of the most exciting highlights of the program was the liquid nitrogen experiments. The spectacular freezing of objects and the fascinating properties of low temperatures captured the attention of the audience. The experimental program was prepared by the staff of the Institute of Physics.
More than 80 students from different parts of the world are participating in Orientation Week. This semester, the Faculty of Science and Natural Sciences hosts students from countries such as Spain, Nigeria, Turkey, and Greece.
ESN announces further attractions, including workshops, city games, and excursions, which will help students better get to know the university and build new friendships.
