Another encounter with the nature of the Pliszka Valley is behind us

28.05.2026

From 25 to 29 May 2026, field classes in invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, and botany were once again held in Kosobudki. The participants were first-year Biology students from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences. During their stay in the Pliszka River Valley, they explored the unique natural environment of the area. They studied insects and other invertebrates, plants, and birds, and observed nocturnal wildlife near the compost site — a favourite spot for raccoons, martens, and foxes.

The classes were led by staff members of the Institute of Biological Sciences at the University of Zielona Góra: Dr Elżbieta Roland, Dr Jan Cichocki, and Professor Marian Giertych.

The field course was also attended by students from Spain (the University of Granada, the University of Extremadura, and the University of León), who are currently completing Biology and Biotechnology study programmes at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences as part of the Erasmus+ programme.
